Adolescence & Sleep

Women & Sleep
When it comes to sleeplessness, women face three strikes over their lifespan. First, during adolescence a young woman starts having menstrual cycles that can result in monthly fluctuations in sleep deprivation and feeling tired. Then a woman begins her childrearing years and she can’t sleep due to pregnancy and babies/children. Finally, a woman makes the transition through menopause that can last ten years from her early 40's to early 50's. During this transition one of the most common problems is trouble sleeping.
Therefore, for women, there is a lack of sleep between her teens and 50's! Sleep deprivation for women can become chronic and lifelong with a significant effect on quality of life, health and mood.
